Compass Claims – General Questions

How quickly can I receive a vehicle from Compass Claims?

If your vehicle is off-road and you have all the necessary paperwork we can often give you a car the same day and if not then within 24 hours. If your car is driveable then we need to wait until your vehicle has been assessed before we can offer a replacement car. If you can get the quote to us as soon as possible then this will help speed things up. Please note this is subject to car availability.

What about Data Protection at Compass Claims?

We will share your information with the other party and also the insurance company with whom they are insured to ensure no claims are fraudulent. If we find your claim to be fraudulent at a later date then we may have to charge you.

What Kind of Vehicle will I receive?

Compass Claims are the only accident company that offers a full range of replacement vehicles. Wherever possible we shall place you back into a similar size vehicle to the one you are currently driving. So if you have children we will accommodate that, if you are a busy executive and have a prestige vehicle we shall provide you with similar(*conditions apply). If you have a Van we can put you back in one. It is important to remember that putting you back into the position you were in before the accident is our number 1 priority. Please note this is subject to vehicle availability.

*Please note that if you have a prestige vehicle over a certain age we may not be able to provide you with a replacement prestige vehicle. This will be determined by the branch delivering the vehicle.

How will I know if my APPLICATION has been accepted at Compass Claims?

We will send you a notification via SMS and email advising you of the branch that will be delivering your vehicle. After receiving this please liaise directly with the branch delivering the vehicle.

What happens after it has been accepted at Compass Claims?

In general, our delivering branch will call the day before the car is due to be delivered. If you have any queries at any time then you can call us and we will be happy to help. We work on a first come first served basis for specific delivery times so if you do wish to request a specific time then please contact your delivery branch well in advance of the drop-off.

Repairs – General Questions

Why the factory original color of the bumper and trim pieces may slightly vary in colour to the rest of the vehicle?

Factory paint on plastic bumpers is an exact match to the car. To match plastic and metal through time, sunlight and weather conditions is somewhat of a tricky deal. Causes of colour variations:

1. A colour can vary depending on the substate on which it is painted. For example, the evaporation rate for solvent varies over metal or plastic. A longer rate gives a flake pigment additional time to “float” and can darken the face of the colour.

2. The body was painted on a production line at the factory, while other parts such as the bumper and trim were painted at another location using a different application method.

3. Slight adjustments can be made during application creating a lighter or darker colour, or causing the metallics or mica elements to lay down differently.

4. Light reflects differently on curved and flat surfaces causing the appearance of a colour to shift.

We use the best (PPG) in colour-matching tools to precisely match factory paint shades. PPG is world leader in Automotive Finishes.
